Links
The following links aren’t (as a rule) affiliated with this site in any way. By clicking any of the following links you withdraw any right to complain at me for their contents (that said, these are all sites I frequent – so they can’t be too bad). As with most (if not all) of the material on this site, these links pertain to 3rd/3.5 edition D&D unless otherwise noted.
Campaign Settings:
Various old-edition campaign settings that Wizards of the Coast never saw fit to convert over to 3rd edition.
Birthright
Another simply amazing old-school campaign setting that was never brought to 3rd edition by WotC. This is a large fan-made 3.5 conversion of the setting; you’ve got to register to download materials.
Dark Sun
(My favorite campaign setting) TSR’s gritty desert setting; so brutal that it had special character generation mechanics and everyone started at third level instead of first (almost unheard of in 1st/2nd edition), it’s a shame WotC never ported it to 3rd edition. Luckily, these fine folks did.
Planescape
Beyond my playing of Planescape: Torment, I have little experience with this setting (beyond knowing that the Lady of Pain isn’t to be trifled with). Still, from what I’ve seen, it’s one of them more popular old campaign settings for those who enjoy a good bit of planar escapades in their games.
Spelljammer
So wait, you can fly a ship, in space, in D&D? Why yes, you can. From what I’ve noticed, this was one of the less popular campaign settings from ‘back in the day;’ I guess that most people really didn’t see any appeal in space-fairing bipedal hippo men (the Giff – total badasses, I might add). Still, this is one of my old favorites – even if I only did play in it once or twice.
Character Sheets:
The various character sheets that my group has used over the years; just a note, these are all direct links to download (or view, in the case of the latter two) the sheets.
Player’s Handbook Sheet
The character sheet that comes in the back of a 3.5 edition Player’s Handbook.
Revised Character Sheet
The second 3.5 sheet put out by Wizards of the Coast.
Sunrainstudios Sheet
A sheet put out by Sunrainstudios; it’s four sheets long. I like its skill layout.
Ultimate Character Sheet
A two page sheet that’s put out by Necromancer Games. This is probably my favorite non-homebrew character sheet.
General Links:
Links to various D&D related sites.
D20SRD
The SRD (System Reference Document) contains all open-content located within the 3.5 Player’s Handbook, Monster Manual, Dungeon Master’s Guide, Expanded Psionics Handbook, Epic Handbook, Unearthed Arcana, and Deities and Demigods books.
Invisible Castle
Features an online point buy stat generator and die-rolling system. Handy for DMs who don’t have their DMGs at hand all the time (and those who don’t know how to use point buy stat generation) and want to stat up few NPCs using point buy. Also useful for online games where the DM requires you to use an online die-roller.
Paizo
Home of Pathfinder RPG, the community here is simply awesome and is home to some of the friendliest and most mature people I’ve ever met on the internet. Not only that, but they sell all kinds of nifty stuff, too!
Imagery:
Links to fantasy image sites; lots of really nice pictures to be found and used for inspiration.
Epilogue
Excellent fantasy art by a massive number of artists. I use this site regularly to dig up portraits of PCs that I play.
Miniatures:
Whether it’s pre-painted plastic or pewter (or even lead), I can’t recommend these sites enough!
CoolStuffInc
If you’re looking for Wizards of the Coast’s plastic miniature lines, I recommend this site wholeheartedly. They sell singles at low prices (barring the rarer ones, of course) and they ship quickly, though their shipping tends to get expensive if you’re ordering lots of miniatures (it’s fairly cheap if you’re only ordering 15 or 20 at a time, though). Registration required unless you’re just looking around.
Miniature Giant
A site that carries an excellent (as in almost all of them) selection of Reaper brand minis. They offer free next-day shipping (you only pay the 50ยข handling fee), as well as incredibly low prices. They also sell Reaper brand paints and brushes which I recommend. If you register for an account here, I’d appreciate it if you would link me as a referring member (my username is: witchhunter8808); if you do, we both get kickback from it (5% of what is spent as in store credit).
Online Gaming:
If you can’t find a group in your locale, sometimes it’s easier to get online and play via the internet. I heartily recommend both of these sites.
RPoL (Role Play onLine)
One of the best online gaming sites I’ve ever come across. I’ve run several games here and as a rule the community is a good one. I did have to deal with a jerk or two, but you don’t have to allow them into your games (assuming you’re DMing of course)! Registration required unless you’re just browsing.
The Tangled Web
A site used for storing online character sheets. They support a large number of gaming systems and their community is very friendly. Registration required to use the character sheet storage.
